London hypnotherapy and regression therapy are tools for change  The Phoenix Practice

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that is regularly experienced by everybody on the planet. The dreamy drowsy state which precedes falling asleep or becoming fully awake is a hypnotic trance. A person experiencing hypnosis is neither fully awake nor asleep but somewhere in between these two states, and by no means is under somebody else’s power or control. Hypnosis is experienced by most people as a state of deep relaxation of body and mind. In hypnosis, a person feels in control and the mind is aware of what is happening. Everyday trance experiences include being absorbed in a daydream or engrossed in a book. In a therapeutic session, hypnosis can be induced in a client by making use of a set of instructions, or suggestions, designed to facilitate the experience of an altered state of consciousness.

Hypnotherapy is the application of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes. As the mind detaches from everyday cares and concerns in hypnosis, it can become more receptive and responsive to positive suggestions and imagery. Suggestion therapy can be used with hypnosis to treat a number of psychosomatic, psychological and physical problems. Scientific studies have reported some psychological and physiological changes following hypnotic suggestions. Responsiveness to suggestions varies from person to person. It can be enhanced by positive expectations and high motivation to achieve one’s goals.

Hypnosis also can be used to elicit unconscious material, explore repressed emotions, access lost memories or identify the root causes of a problem. This is achieved through age regression and analytical hypnotherapy, or hypno-analysis. Regression therapy involves taking a person back, under hypnosis, to past events or memories in the person’s life. Hypno-analysis, involves addressing the unconscious causes of a problem. Regression and hypno-analysis are powerful tools for releasing negative emotions and experiencing profound healing.

Although reincarnation is a subject of debate, under hypnosis many people can access accounts of past events, which are not of their present lifetime, and can link them to present life difficulties. Past life regression can be used to heal present life problems and to gain insight into personality characteristics, preferences and skills, though present life circumstances are not always attributable to past life experiences. You can read an article on past life regression on the web.
