She is committed to continuing her professional development by regularly updating her skills and knowledge and, more importantly, by being engaged in developing innovative ideas and procedures for the treatment of a number of psychological and mental health problems.

She favours a holistic, person-centred, transpersonal approach, effectively combining and developing ideas from a multidisciplinary background, which includes psychology, hypnotherapy, hypno-analysis, regression therapy, counselling, psychotherapy and Reiki healing. In her work, she brings together the sensitivity and compassion acquired through her work of many years with people experiencing psychological or emotional distress and the precision and thoroughness of her scientific background. She is noted for her professional expertise, dedication, ingenuity and integrity.

Dr Fichera has 20 years of experience in psychology. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in psychology and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in neurophysiology. She also has a background in abnormal psychology and in neuropsychology. For a number of years, she conducted scientific research at the University of London on patients with clinical depression and on neurological patients with frontal lobe damage. She has a doctorate (Ph.D) in psychology from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, for research on the neuropsychology of the frontal lobes, the brain centres responsible for cognitive control. The malfunction of the frontal lobes is known to result in cognitive, emotional and mental health problems.

During the period of her doctoral research, she was the sole holder of six research grants, awarded for her doctoral research and for additional related research projects on higher cognitive functions of the brain. She is skilled in psychological test design and research methods, and has developed a battery of neuropsychological tests to measure specific cognitive control processes in the human brain. She has made a number of original contributions at national and international scientific conferences. She was a university and college lecturer in psychology, and supervised final year undergraduate psychology students assisting in her research.

In her spare time, she practises advanced Shotokan karate. She regularly attends training events with internationally renowned instructors and karate world champions from Japan. She is inspired by the philosophy and discipline of karate, and applies such principles to her own life and to her work on personal development with clients.
